Chloramphenicol BP
Composition : Each ml contains: Chloramphenicol BP 5.00mg.
Indications
: Eye: Chloramphenicol is broad spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic.
It is a active against a wide variety of gram-negative & gram-positive
organisms as well as rickettsiae and spirochaetes. It is indicated for use as
topical antibacterial in the treatment of superficial ocular infections caused
by sensitive organisms.
Ear: External
ear canal infections.
Dosage
and administration : Eye: For adults (including
the elderly): One to two drops applied to each
affected eye upto six times daily or more frequently if required. (Severe
infections may require one to two drops every fifteen to twenty minutes
initially, reducing the frequency of instillation gradually as the infection is
controlled).
Ear: 2-3 drops
into the ear canal three to four times a day. Or, as directed by the registered
physicisan.
Use
in pregnancy and lactation :
Safety for use in pregnancy and lactation has not been established. Therefore,
use only considered essential by the physician.
Packing: 10 ml in plastic dropper bottle.
